Importance of Rainforests

Rainforests are very dense, warm, wet forests. They are havens for millions of plants and animals. Rainforests are extremely important in the ecology of the Earth. The plants of the rainforest generate much of the Earth's oxygen. These plants are also very important to people in other ways; many are used in new drugs that fight illness.

The Flora

You can find 700 different species of trees and 1.400 species of plants.
 The forest has a high density of trees, they are very tall. Many trees reach 130 meters high. In this photo you can see a lot of high trees. The vegetation always is very extensive.

PEOPLE AT THE RAINFORESTS

These people depend on the forests for their food and shelter. As we cut more and more trees and destroy more and more of the forests, we are also killing people. Many native tribes have been exterminated already because their governments failed to protect them from logging companies, the mining companies and the slash and burn farmers.
